I.
In
compliance with Article 5 in Provision of International Students on
Overseas Study Programs in Taiwan and school regulations, the
International Students Admission Policies of National Formosa University
are stipulated to encourage foreign students to study in Taiwan and
assist them in their academic studies and life in
Taiwan.
II.
The
international students hereinto refer to applicants who are not Chinese
overseas students or do not possess citizenship of
Taiwan. Overseas Chinese who do not hold
citizenship of Taiwan can apply for
admission either by International Students Admission Policies of
National Formosa University or Regulations of the Counseling and
Admission to Taiwan’s Institutions for Chinese Overseas Students.
Violation to this regulation, which means applying for admission both as
an overseas Chinese and international student simultaneously, will
result in rejection or cancellation of admission.
III.
Each
department and school should admit international students no more than
10% of its total number of students recruited for the domestic schools
per academic year. However, this limitation does not apply to projects
in collaboration with partner institutions in other countries. These
special projects enroll a particular number of international students
with permission of the Ministry of Education.
IV.
The
application deadline and related procedures will be proclaimed in the
school brochure each year.
V.
Applicants must submit the required materials as follows to the Office
of Academic Affairs.
1.
One completed
application form (Please attach one 2-inch photo
passport photo).
2.
A copy of the official
diploma with a copy of its notarized
Chinese or English translation, and official transcript in English.
3.
Two academic letters of
recommendation from Chinese Language professors (including on
recommendation letter from a professor of Chinese language) and
certificate of proficiency in Chinese.
4.
A copy of health
certification (including HIV test).
5.
A copy of the study
plan in Chinese or English.
6.
A copy of the financial
statement (providing evidence of adequate financial support to study in
Taiwan).
7.
Other materials
required by the school upon admission.
8.
Document of health and
personal accident insurance or national health insurance upon
registration. International students who have not bought insurance
should pay for the premiums, which will
be handled by the school.
VI.
All
completed applications will first be
reviewed by the Office of Academic Affairs. The Office of Academic
Affairs forwards all the applications to each expert faculty for
review. National Formosa University looks for a “C” or better in all
the courses applicants had taken in previous institutions. Other
admission requirements are set by different departments. Applicants
must take Chinese Proficiency tests or other required examinations
(including reading, writing, and listening comprehension) upon notice.
Once the department makes a recommendation for admission, the Office of
Academic Affairs is notified and sends out the letter of acceptance to
admitted students.
VII.
Admitted
students enroll, select and take courses according to school regulations
and related rules. Charges of tuition,
credit course, and miscellaneous fees will be consistent with the
school’s standard fees.
VIII.
Those who
hold an R.O.C. alien resident certificate apply for non-degree students
can select and take courses at National Formosa University and pass the
required examinations, shall they be granted credit certificates by the
school. However, if they apply to the school by using the identity of
the foreign student and the alien residents of R.O.C. simultaneously, it
will result in rejection or cancellation of admission.
IX.
In
compliance with Article 8, those who hold an R.O.C. alien resident
certificate can enroll as non-degree students, but no certificates are
issued to auditors.
X.
If the
admitted foreign students would like to have further study in the R.O.C.,
he or she should follow the school rules of the general students’
enrollment.
XI.
Any forms
of certificates are not issued to international students who withdraw or
are expelled from the school.
XII.
Admitted
foreign students must comply with the law of
Taiwan and also the school’s discipline during their stay.
XIII.
Information of admitted international students to include name list,
nationalities, grades, and programs applied will be submitted to the
Ministry of Education for reference.
XIV.
Regulations which are not stipulated in International Students Admission
Policies of National Formosa University are prescribed in Provision of
International Students on Overseas Study Programs in Taiwan and school
rules.
XV.
International Students Admission Policies of National
Formosa University have been revised in the meetings of Academic Affairs
and examined and authorized by the Principal. The policies will be put
into effect once they are sent to the Ministry of Education for
verification. This procedure applies to revision of the policies as
well.
