Students applying from abroad who have received a formal
letter of admission should apply at the nearest Taiwan embassy, consulate
or representative agency for entry visas to enter Taiwan. Visitor's
visas and resident's visas are issued to students depending on the
length of their study. Student admitted to a degree program will need to
apply for a resident visa. To apply for a resident visa, please have the
following documents ready:
1.A passport valid for at least six months;
2.A duly completed application form with one photo;
3.Supporting documents or official admission letters;
4.and Other relevant documents.
5.Health Certificate if applicable
The application fee is NT$2,200 for single entry;
NT$3,000 for multiple entry; NT$3,600 for US citizens. A Resident's Visa
is valid for three months.
Resident's visa holders are required to apply for an
Alien Resident Certificate at the city/county police headquarters
nearest to their residence in Taiwan within 15 days after their arrival.
For foreigners from the countries with which the ROC has
entered into reciprocal agreements, the resident's visa is issued
gratis. For students who failed to obtain resident's visas from
overseas, they may apply for visitor's visas to enter Taiwan. They will
need to apply for resident's visas at the Bureau of Consular Affairs
after registration. To apply for a visitor's visa, please prepare:
A duly completed application form with two photos;
An outbound airline ticket or verifiable proof of
purchase of steamship ticket ;
Documents verifying the purpose of visit;
and
Other relevant documents.
For foreigners from countries with which the ROC has
entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the visa is issued gratis. For
other foreigners, the visa application fee is NT$1,200 for single entry;
NT$2,400 for multiple entries; NT$ 3,600 for US citizens.
For foreigners from the countries with which the ROC has
entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the validity of their visitor
visas shall be decided in accordance with these agreements. For other
foreigners, a visitor's visa is generally valid from three months to one
year. Most of the students are allowed to stay in Taiwan for about sixty
days and may also apply at the city police headquarter for a maximum of
two extensions.
